It was in 2017 that I decided for the first time to explore Eastern Europe and discover new forgotten pianos. This quest in search of these silent giants will lead me to the discovery of many pianos in Poland, Slovenia, Romania, Slovakia, Hungary, Bulgaria and as far as Ukraine in the city of Pripyat.
When I saw the abandoned town of Pripyat for the first time, I was struck by its size and the speed with which nature reclaimed its rights without human intervention. The buildings are hardly noticeable behind the trees and they disappear little by little. I discovered about ten pianos during two trips in 2017 and 2021.
